[00:00] meeting of the Miami Special Utility Authority for today's day. I am number two as
[00:05] invocation by a pastor of a spot at a pustalic facility.
[00:09] Sure, soon to be great, sir. Yes, I feel sorry. Thank you for being here, Phil.
[00:14] Thank you. Would you bow your heads with me?
[00:16] Father, we thank you tonight for just a community where we come and open up a leadership meeting
[00:24] such as this, the City Council and we open up with prayer acknowledging your sovereignty,
[00:29] acknowledge your presence and we ask God as you continue protect our community.
[00:33] I'll be with these leaders tonight, give them wisdom and give them unity as they conduct
[00:39] the business of our community. Continue to keep us God's safe with the help of those policemen,
[00:44] keep them safe also in their service and the firemen and all those that serve those citizens
[00:49] of this community. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Thank you. Thank you.
[00:59] United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under by the invisible
[01:07] with liberty and justice for us. I did number four is public input and unscheduled personal
[01:17] appearances. Anyone in the audience it wishes to address the special utility authority.
[01:24] They're being none. I don't find as a consent agenda staff is recommending items six through eight
[01:29] for the consent agenda. There's no discussion on those items. We'll entertain a motion.
[01:36] We're on my commotion. We'll provide them six through eight in the consent agenda.
[01:39] Okay, we have a second. Second. Roll call. Johnson.
[01:44] Weston. I. Forester. Hi. Lewis. Hi. Show. Hi.
[01:48] I am nine well state bank contract and resolution to process utility payments for the City of Miami,
[01:54] Jill. Yes. We are beginning a remodel of the customer service at which time the drive
[01:59] through will be closed. They're going to move over there on the 25th of May but the construction won't
[02:03] start until the 6th. We want to give them a few days to make sure all the bugs are worked out before we
[02:07] have to deal with construction. During the because we knew we were going to close on the drive through one of the
[02:13] other things we thought about was seeing if there's some banks that might be able to take our utility
[02:17] payments. So we spoke with all banks and one stood out in particular that actually fit exactly
[02:23] what we needed the process that we needed to go through the timing that we needed and that was
[02:29] well state bank. They have they're going to end up with two locations. They have one that's right by Walmart.
[02:37] They also take other utility payments. I believe it's gas. The second one on Steve Owens, it's not quite
[02:44] open yet. They're going to have a soft opening on May 23rd and then they're hoping to have the grand opening
[02:49] the end of June, probably about the 27th he said. If you approve this agreement and then there's a
[02:55] resolution attached to it also because they required us to have a resolution to say specifically.
[03:00] who's going to be the ones to be able to conduct business on our account.
[03:04] So if you approve all of this, we plan to have them in place and taking payments by the 30th.
[03:10] Hopefully sooner, but no way to the 30th, which is Monday.
[03:15] And the branch out by the turnpike you said will be open, the soft opening is on the 23rd,
[03:19] so it will be open before the 30th.
[03:22] Yes.
[03:23] Okay.
[03:24] And how do we plan on communicating this with the public?
[03:27] Well, we've been passing out flyers right now.
[03:30] I've got one ready in the queue to start passing out tomorrow and Facebook website.
[03:34] We're talking about the remodel now with the flyer.
[03:38] We've been doing that for two or three weeks, but then we'll have a revised one that will go out.
[03:44] And is there going to go in the statements also?
[03:46] Yes.
[03:47] Yes.
[03:48] That was one of the things we wanted to do to also.
[03:51] So the customer will still have the option to come inside and tell you that.
[03:57] Yes.
[03:58] They will actually be located just south of where they're at right now.
[04:01] It's literally across from my office door.
[04:03] It's kind of, we'll have signage, we'll have it all roped off and then signage to lead them
[04:07] to the right spot.
[04:08] Okay.
[04:09] So in how long of a period do you anticipate the remodel attack?
[04:15] No more than five weeks.
[04:17] We're actually anticipating 14 days, but we want to give this a please time just in case something
[04:21] happens.
[04:23] Well, it's five weeks with the additional days, them just being over there without starting
[04:28] construction.
[04:29] So customer, Jay, need to come inside for any reason, just as in the past can continue to
[04:36] come inside.
[04:37] Those that have utilized the drive through or asking them to use Welch.
[04:42] Yes.
[04:43] That's the drive through.
[04:44] Yes.
[04:45] We'll get in the drop-off.
[04:46] We'll still stay there.
[04:47] We actually have two drop-boxes.
[04:48] We're debating whether to leave the one drive through the main drive through open because there's
[04:51] a drop-box there also, but we'll check those more often during the day.
[04:57] And they can also pay online, is that correct?
[05:00] They can pay with the credit card.
[05:01] There's also automatic draft through their bank account that we could set up for.
[05:06] We're not currently taking advantage of that, but this would be a good time.
[05:09] Yeah.
[05:10] We think so too.
[05:11] One thing that I think's important to point out too is we're going to evaluate this at the
[05:15] end.
[05:16] And there's a very real possibility we may ask you to make this permanent.
[05:20] We have our staff.
[05:21] It would free up a lot of our staff's time to be able to do some additional work.
[05:26] We would be compensating by having two locations instead of one.
[05:30] And if everything works out well with Welch State Bank, people still will always have to come
[05:34] inside if they're setting up their services or have any issues with their bill.
[05:38] We never do that at the drive through.
[05:40] And we would still leave the drop-box open here as well.
[05:43] So we just wanted to see how it would work.
[05:46] And with this remodeling, this is a really good opportunity too.
[05:49] That's a prize by the number of people that still drive through and pay the bill.
[05:54] 20.
[05:55] That's about 2,300 a month.
[05:56] 1,300 a month.
[05:57] Yeah.
[05:58] We put a counter on just to say, I'm one of them.
[06:00] I'm fine, I'm going to say that thing.
[06:04] What are you saying is that?
[06:06] It's frifting.
[06:07] Okay.
[06:09] Any other questions for Jill?
[06:12] I don't know.
[06:13] I haven't.
[06:14] So right now this is a temporary process.
[06:16] We're not approving eliminating the drive through.
[06:19] Forever.
[06:20] We're just approving the temporary process.
[06:23] And this is only a premium temporary.
[06:25] Okay.
[06:26] And this is just for real estate bank to take our utility payments.
[06:28] The resolution that they required from us.
[06:30] Okay.
[06:31] Any other questions?
[06:33] David any concerns?
[06:34] No, sir.
[06:35] Thank you.
[06:36] We have a motion.
[06:37] I'll make a motion.
