[00:00] What's your name, Howard?
[00:03] What's your name?
[00:06] McCawdore, the Mama Special Utility Authority Board Meeting.
[00:09] For Monday, May 23, 2022.
[00:14] To the five United States and America, and the two of the Republic for which it stands.
[00:26] One nation, another god, and the divisible of the liberty and justice for all.
[00:33] This meeting will now be contained through the Council Chamber's Reconvening and the staff room
[00:37] of the executive session.
[00:41] I'll move to number six.
[00:43] Resolution 2022, that's year or two.
[00:46] And I believe we're going to have some questions for Miss Vance.
[00:51] So, you can go to the podium.
[00:53] So, we have discussion upstairs in the executive session.
[00:59] We talked about what we think we're going to do.
[01:02] But we wanted to ask you some questions.
[01:04] I don't know who else to go first.
[01:06] You have your questions in there.
[01:08] May?
[01:09] Yes.
[01:11] Did you have any kind of presentation, anything?
[01:13] Did you want to give us?
[01:14] What presentation?
[01:17] Okay.
[01:18] Go ahead and I'll give us a chance to.
[01:19] Okay.
[01:20] So, I will say this conversation has been many years coming for us for super excited about this project.
[01:25] But our plan is to, you know, we're the board store.
[01:29] You know, the board store currently is that we're going to go to state of the art,
[01:32] Chrysler facility.
[01:34] And we're going to use their image program, which is not something that we've done in the past.
[01:38] So, it'll be, it'll be cutting edge.
[01:40] Probably how to set the separate Jeep sharing as well.
[01:42] So, really as soon as we get approval for this, that's our next call.
[01:46] This to them and they'll help us design that facility.
[01:49] And then, where the VFW used to stand, we are planning to build a commercial shop there.
[01:56] That will be able to, you know, work on all the brands that we sell, so, for GM and RAM as well.
[02:04] And then, like, we've been talking about.
[02:06] And we just kind of see where it goes from there.
[02:08] Or we're really the fact that we have these three stores here in Miami now.
[02:12] Probably we'll open up some other possibilities for us much like it doesn't get through.
[02:16] We have a lot of other niche businesses that we run there.
[02:19] So, I can see that coming this way in the future.
[02:22] Thank you guys.
[02:23] Thank you guys.
[02:24] Sure.
[02:25] Sure.
[02:26] You guys.
[02:27] I know John is doing you guys on the warehouse.
[02:29] We're doing different warehouses.
[02:31] Yeah.
[02:32] For sure.
[02:33] He did just purchase somewhere else.
[02:34] He does a lot of different side businesses and stuff like that, as they make sense in the communities.
[02:47] So, just excited to work with the city of Miami.
[02:49] Thank you guys for really progressive and a lot of the things that you're all we're doing right now.
[02:52] We'd love to be a part of helping, you know, to find a main street.
[02:55] And I think this would be a really, really good step in the right direction.
[03:00] The question I had was a 30 employees is that doable. I mean, I know Guthrie has a lot of employees
[03:08] You guys got like I've been to your Guthrie store picking up police cars and stuff like that is that like 40 or 50 employees
[03:15] That there's a correct oh in in Guthrie
[03:19] Over 100 okay
[03:22] I mean employees do you have your current store crasher at the price you're struggling with 22 full-time okay
[03:30] So 30 is very doable. I thought it was fair. I thought it was doable
[03:34] I'll tell you when we did the numbers. I was trying to be conservative so that we could exceed
[03:39] Those numbers, but yeah, I mean with technicians things alone. I think that's the reason
[03:43] So there's the reason that becomes a discussion obviously making it is these guys are having to justify
[03:49] The expense that the city is is trying to invest in this project and jobs is this one of the biggest drivers
[03:58] To city so that was part of that conversation is justified what number of jobs?
[04:04] Are they new jobs? Are they just moving the jobs they have and so so that being additional age jobs?
[04:10] It's what it would be a pretty good average looking at the medium income
[04:14] You're in the city
[04:19] So you're saying that you're gonna have a
[04:22] Crystall store and a Jeep store
[04:24] That is the that is the idea and now we have available to start on the our image project yet because
[04:30] If this part done first, but yes, very likely that
[04:33] So you guys have a Jeep event
[04:38] Guthrie there
[04:39] So yes, so we do a festival in Guthrie. It's the first one
[04:45] That we've ever done
[04:47] This is our fourth annual
[04:48] It's called midwest jeep fast
[04:50] We did that to raise awareness for really we had a hard time getting people to realize get three wasn't so far away
[04:56] Right, so right outside of a metro area
[04:59] So it was to get people to drive and then also to is a charitable event
[05:04] So I mean if I had my way everything we do I wouldn't do any regular advertising and we're getting closer to this
[05:09] It would be you know supporting community stuff and taking good care of our customers
[05:13] So they come back to see if that's our vision and for the way to draw business and so we started that festival
[05:18] We have we've raised anywhere between 10 to 15 thousand dollars. We just finished it again
[05:24] We donate to causes like the girl wise veteran of America was last year
[05:29] This camping that we're just finishing afterwards for make promises happen, which is
[05:34] Organization that helps and individuals with
[05:38] Disabilities so we take a different charity every year and we have a Jeep track bill
[05:43] And it tracks it tracks quite a few people. I mean thousands of people come to turn up that so that's pretty good
[05:49] So we started off in Maine and then COVID got weird so we tried it
[05:53] So we're kind of trying to figure out exactly
[05:55] When the right time to do that is that it ideally may like
[06:00] the first or second weekend in May is when we have most of our customers.
[06:03] Would you be interested in doing a fall event here?
[06:05] Possibly.
[06:08] Absolutely.
[06:08] I want to do accept like that.
[06:10] Maybe a spring went out there and a fall in here.
[06:12] That could definitely be a month later.
[06:14] Most of us are.
[06:15] Most of us are partners.
[06:16] Yeah.
[06:17] Yeah.
[06:18] Well, the brings people.
[06:19] You have to do a simple step here.
[06:20] And that's really where the city of Guthrie started doing.
[06:23] We supported from the very beginning.
[06:24] Nice started in music.
[06:25] That's what was called make that we're, so we supported that.
[06:28] That's turned into bread, bread, bread, nights for the city of Guthrie.
[06:30] And it's a huge draw and we'd love being involved with things like that and I see you all doing
[06:35] a lot of that.
[06:36] It's like when you can just put our heads together and a bright storm on different events,
[06:41] that's a really cool thing to come out of that, so definitely open it as part of it.
[06:45] So here's a weird question.
[06:47] Have you ever heard of an entirely electric facility for one of these?
[06:53] So, no, I haven't.
[06:55] I have somebody hitting me up about using a solar, but I haven't had a presentation from them.
[07:02] But other than that, I don't know much about that.
[07:04] Well, electric cars, yes, total electric facilities.
[07:06] It's the, it's the municipal electric provider that we are.
[07:09] Yeah.
[07:10] The electric is good.
[07:11] Yeah.
[07:12] Helps off set or investment?
[07:13] For sure.
[07:14] So, it's why we asked, we didn't know if that was something that's either possible or something.
[07:18] I don't.
[07:19] Not that I know of.
[07:20] It's not something we're looking at and I'll tell you with all of these EVs and such.
[07:23] You can guarantee we'll be drawing our fair share of electricity.
[07:28] So with the total investment that you'll be making into that property with the purchase
[07:33] of the property and the buildings and everything where you look for that to be.
[07:37] Just for the Chrysler project.
[07:39] Yes.
[07:40] That's what we kind of tell the charging stations available.
[07:48] You know, we haven't quite figured that something we're doing some research on to try to figure
[07:52] that out now how we do this.
[07:54] I just came back from meeting in Vegas.
[07:56] We were talking about, so we're wrapping our minds around that, how we do public charging.
[08:00] So, we're still figuring that piece out, but possibly yes, it makes sense for us to do that.
[08:06] There's not a lot of charging stations and trying to help with the infrastructure.
[08:10] We certainly know the sales of EV vehicles in this community if we need more.
[08:15] Absolutely.
[08:16] Our manufacturer is also, well, say, GM specifically, because I just came back from that meeting
[08:20] or asking us to give feedback on places where we think there's a need for that.
[08:25] So, scouting out some areas where they're sparse.
[08:29] So, I'm actually getting ready.
[08:31] My husband is getting ready to have an electric truck so we can kind of dabble in this and
[08:36] see what this looks like.
[08:37] I want to take a very trip and you see from the consumer's office, what's going on so we can get
[08:41] some feedback on that.
[08:42] So, when I asked the question about the investment, you said, in the Chrysler piece, so is there
[08:49] a Ford piece, too?
[08:50] Right.
[08:51] So, the plan is, while we have the construction have any here, it's to do it based on the Ford
[08:55] store as well.
[08:56] Look at some things.
[08:57] What kind of investment would that be?
[09:00] You know, I don't know the numbers on that.
[09:02] It would be substantial, but I don't know the numbers on that yet.
[09:19] We're going to tell you about lighting, yeah, the lighting,
[09:22] the main stream of both sides, the four-store and with the going theme
[09:28] with the rest of the lighting, we have all the main stream.
[09:31] Telling you, I want to talk to that,
[09:32] since you're the smart one.
[09:34] We talked about the new lighting, the mass downtown,
[09:40] and what you also do that at it.
[09:43] It's a resolution on the proof, we also have that you would do that
[09:47] on the other side, the other side, the other side, the other side.
[09:49] So it would be the mass, so we can...
[09:51] Yeah, I'm sure that I'm sure that would be the one.
[09:53] We want to be good stewards of the community,
[09:55] and do what we need to do to make it work for the price of the bank, not only.
[10:06] If everything was to happen, when would be a projected date to start construction?
[10:12] Well, if this is approved, I literally, the day after this is approved,
[10:17] I'm going to put our deposit down with Chrysler,
[10:22] and they'll start their image program.
[10:24] We've already talked across the construction.
[10:26] It will be using there, so I mean, I think it would go pretty quickly.
[10:30] I mean, surely, I would think within six months, we'd be started.
[10:35] Maybe sooner I can retain.
[10:38] Really, just as soon as possible, we're ready to pull the trigger and get going.
[10:41] Our employees are so excited for the possibility of this happening.
[10:44] We've been telling them, since we purchased that Chrysler short of it.
[10:47] We wanted to do something like this, so we would not hesitate.
[10:51] It would not be on our end.
[10:52] It's a good one.
[10:57] So the cost of construction would do the whole project.
[10:59] I believe so.
[11:00] Yes, that's what he's been speaking to.
[11:01] I believe that's, but I don't know how the final is on that yet.
[11:08] So, if we give both the permission to negotiate,
[11:18] then we talked about doing a meeting maybe Friday,
[11:22] if he came back with something.
[11:24] Would that be okay?
[11:26] Sure.
[11:27] I mean, we would want to know what it would.
[11:30] What would we do with the closing instead?
[11:32] What?
[11:36] We're wanting to have a meeting on our next schedule council meeting to approve it.
[11:40] We're not to approve it.
[11:42] Which would be June 6th.
[11:43] June 6th.
[11:44] So is it?
[11:46] Do you need a move faster than that?
[11:48] Well, I mean, the faster the better for us, like I said, we've been waiting to just pull the trigger
[11:55] with Chrysler.
[11:56] I mean, you know, whatever we need to do.
[12:00] to make it work for everybody here.
[12:02] But that doesn't cause any problems with your negotiation with the seller.
[12:09] That part, I don't know what his time frame is.
[12:14] I can tell you, you need to expect that today we're going to know one way or another.
[12:18] I don't know. I can't really speak to that.
[12:20] I don't have to ask him if there's a time frame on that.
[12:24] I don't need to know.
[12:25] Did you have a closing date already?
[12:27] Did you expect him to sign or be the closing?
[12:33] I don't know the date.
[12:35] I just knew this is the one thing we were away.
[13:05] So Friday meeting?
[13:07] Friday lunch?
[13:11] Make her all sandwiches?
[13:13] Make her all sandwiches?
[13:15] I'll buy lunch.
[13:17] Probably not.
[13:20] I already have our hesitations that I can speak to.
[13:26] Nope, I think what can I explain a little bit about?
[13:31] I'll give him the depth of the discussion and numbers that were discussed.
[13:43] They came up with some numbers that they wanted me to meet with.
[13:48] The buyer in the seller and find two of those numbers.
[13:52] The city had an exact number of what was necessary for this to get done.
[13:59] because they're going to be putting those numbers into an actual public resolution.
[14:05] That will have to be voted on and approved.
[14:08] So that was why they today are in a position where they can grant
[14:13] maybe authority a city manager to meet with the fire and seller
[14:16] and finalize those numbers and then they can give it
[14:20] drawn up into a resolution, we call it meeting,
[14:23] meeting it would be a special meeting that we would have to file.
[14:27] Can we get it Friday, that would still give you the 31st date.
[14:31] Sure.
[14:37] Yeah, I'll make that work.
[14:44] Okay, we're going to the Friday, going to the Friday.
[14:47] Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it Friday.
[14:49] So we need to make it.
[14:51] We might have been in hell.
[14:53] You say that three times.
[14:55] Why are you going to be like that?
[14:56] I just...
[14:58] I don't know what we're doing.
[15:00] be driving the school with us and I guess with the emotion, I'll make the motion.
[15:11] What motion is it?
[15:12] You're going to, you by the motion.
[15:17] No, I'll second your motion.
[15:19] What motion was it?
[15:21] The city manager leaves on.
[15:22] Right.
[15:23] There you go.
[15:24] Do we need to officially say that?
[15:26] So I'll make the motion that we authorize both receding manager to negotiate and deal with the
[15:32] buyer and seller and then come back and have a final meeting to,
[15:38] do I have to say all that within the terms within the terms of discussed in executive
[15:44] session?
[15:45] I don't know.
[15:46] Second.
[15:47] Thank you.
[15:50] Yes.
[15:51] It's a mouthful.
[15:52] All right.
[15:59] So full.
[16:00] All right.
[16:01] Senator.
[16:02] Davis.
[16:03] I'm staying.
[16:04] Parker.
[16:05] All right.
[16:08] Thank you.
[16:09] Appreciate it.
[16:13] Number seven.
[16:14] A German.
[16:15] So moved.
[16:16] Thank you.
